Running for a Cause:
Christopher Mull (age 3) has suffered from
unexplained seizures since he was ten
weeks old. After thousands of seizures, many
emergency room visits and hospital
stays, failed medicines, the ketogenic diet,
six different neurologists, and a lot of
worry the Mull family was finally given a definite
diagnosis! Christopher has a very rare
form of epilepsy that currently has no cure. It
is called Dravet Syndrome (www.idea-league.org).
Fortunately, Christopher was diagnosed
at a relatively young age, but he still has a
long and difficult journey ahead of him.
Recently, Christopher has been given an incredible
opportunity to obtain a seizure response
dog, but he needs your help!

How can you help?
The Mull family must raise
$11,000, the amount of money equivalent to what it will
cost for the training and placement of this
seizure response dog. The sum of this must be
raised through donations in order to heighten
awareness of what it is these animals can do. All
of the money raised through the Courageous
Christopher event will be used in obtaining placement of
this specially trained dog. The dog will help
alert caregivers to seizure activity, assist
Christopher with his balance, and provide emotional
support when needed. The dogs are trained
through an organization called 4 Paws for Ability
(www.4pawsforability.org). Having a dog
trained to deal specifically with
seizures will give Christopher more independence as
he grows, and will also give his parents some
peace of mind. It takes approximately nine months
from the time they raise the money, until the
time they get a dog, so let's get racing!

Description:
Awards for
the top 3 male and females in each age group and
top 3 overall racers. All are invited to attend
the post race family friendly party: pig roast,
food, drinks, live entertainment, kids
activities and more.
**Entrants with strollers and dogs are encouraged
to run along side Christopher.
